The Dalmore Unveils Rare Collector’s Edition at the Venice Biennale 2025

This year’s Biennale Architettura in Venice opened not only with architectural discourse but with a striking debut from Highland Single Malt The Dalmore, presented in collaboration with V&A Dundee, Foster + Partners, and the British Council.

Unveiled during the prestigious vernissage, The Dalmore revealed the third chapter in its award-winning Luminary Series, an exquisite 52 Year Old Single Malt suspended in a sculptural bronze masterpiece designed by Ben Dobbin, head of Foster + Partners’ San Francisco studio. Dobbin, celebrated for his work on Apple Park in Cupertino and the revitalisation of the Transamerica Pyramid, brings architectural gravitas to this remarkable collector’s piece.

The Dalmore Luminary No. 3 – The Rare, is one of only two ever created. One is housed within the distillery archives. The other is currently under the Sotheby’s hammer, with all proceeds benefiting Scotland’s design museum, V&A Dundee. The whisky itself is a layered composition, matured across an extraordinary blend of casks including vintage Calvados, 1940 Colheita Port, PX Sherry, and Mont Redon wine. Encased in an asymmetrical bronze sculpture, the release is both a feat of whisky craftsmanship and collectible design.

Further underlining its cultural commitment, The Dalmore is also supporting the British Council’s Pavilion at the Biennale for the very first time. The exhibition, titled GBR, Geology of Britannic Repair, received a Special Mention at the Golden Lions and is open to visitors until 23rd November.

The Sotheby’s auction runs until Friday 16th May and represents a singular opportunity to own an irreplaceable work of whisky and design history, while supporting one of the UK’s most dynamic cultural institutions.
